Welcome to the Amigo Blog
Exploring the intersection of accountability, friendship, and personal growth.
Why Accountability Matters To Us
It's not always easy to keep motivated, and that's understandable in todays society. A lot of things are build around passive consumption, and that can be good to relax. Besides there is a huge spectrum of media available to us these days of quality content, there is a lot of good stuff to consume - learn and broaden your horizons.
However as a result it feels like society is becoming increasingly silod off into your own specific media you enjoy. And that's also great, you can be the curator if you steer the algorithms correctly. However it seems a side effect has been that we sometimes lack human connection, and that's something we wanted to address with this app.
Not only that we lack connection but the imbalance of consumption also means we end up less production with our output, and if we do, theres not much to stop us sometimes as our friends or peers are focused on their own pursuits. Especially when more and more people seem to work from home, the effect is amplified.
It's a big internet out there and it's a bit scary to share what you're working on sometimes, there are privacy concerns, there are anxieties, are people even interested? Of course you can do that, but it's not for everyone. I've always enjoyed working in smaller groups or just one to one, but I understand that's not for everyone. I've liked that bounce back competitiveness and agility you have when it's just you and a mate or two, with no time for civilities that you have with a larger group. I think it's that same drive that makes startups so fun to work with, a crack team of multi-talented individuals trying to breakout into success and hold everything together in the process.
Working with people you trust is a great way to stay motivated and accountable. It's something I've always valued, and it's something I wanted to bring to Amigo.
- External Pressure and Motivation: Knowing a friend is there on the other side getting stuff done, it puts that pressure on you, it becomes harder to skip.
- Verification is realisation: It doesn't matter what you say, it's what you can prove.
- Meaning of Partnerships: The belief that friendships are build on hardships.
What to Expect In This Blog
